Everyone should say "Hi" to me, I'll be working Moorland's merch table...or say, i dunno "You're a jerk and I don't like you, Jake Scott"...whatever you prefer.

I've been thinking a lot, and I really wish things would go back to the way they were when I was in willow. I miss everything about it. The shows, the fun, the music, Oak Crest shows, the people, going to the Rendezvous after almost every single show. Things just aren't the same anymore.

has anyone ever noticed that many people try so hard to be "different" that they all end up being exactly the same as the other kids who are trying to be "different"?
OR
has anyone ever noticed that so many people are two-faced and fake?
OR
has anyone just sat around and felt that life is good. no matter how much bullshit you go through or how bad it might get, or whatever, that it really is good to be alive?
OR
has anyone ever taken the time to say "hi" to the kid in the back corner of class that no one talks to?

First week at GVSU was this week. I really enjoy it so far. My classes are alright, not horrible, not awesome. Although, I think I will enjoy my Music Lit. class a bit. Love the Grand Valley campus, lots to do to keep yourself bust, nice campus, etc. It's also cool that both Jordan Feenstra and Anthony Timlin go to GVSU because it means I can hang out with them between classes sometimes, which is awesome because they're both cool guys. Also, my friend Justin lives about 4min from the campus, which is also pretty nifty. The old bad part of this whole thing is that I have to work and go to school at the same time, which I'm having trouble adjusting to it. Right now, I'm beat, tired, exhausted. But, overall, I think I'll like going to to GVSU.

Well, MC K$ and I decided that despite the atrocity of our second show, that we will continue to write songs and try to get and play shows. It's just THAT much fun. So, if anyone wants to book us some shows, that would be pretty awesome. I mean, who doesn't want to watch two guys make complete idiots of themselves in front of people while they're acting serious about it?
Also, I feel like crap today and I have to go to work. F work. Just...F work.
Also, Also, I get to start classes at GVSU tomorrow. I'm kind of excited because this means I'll be able to hang out more often with Anthony, who also goes to GVSU, and I'll be able to hang out more with my friend Justin who lives in Allendale. It'll be really cool to be able to see him more than once a month of couple of months.

Had the first band practice with the new band today and I'm going to have to say that I LOVE what we're writing. It is ridiculously catchy, yet complex and difficult to play at times.
Having Nick and Ross both on guitar is definitely one of the greatest ideas ever. Also, the guy we have playing bass is no less than amazing. His name is Eli Cain and he has to be one of the best bassists I've ever heard come out of Muskegon.
Today we wrote 2 songs (minus vocals). They're still a little rough and sloppy, but well on their way to being completed, so watch out in the near future.

haven't posted in a while and i doubt anyone will comment, so whatev.
NOT SO NEWS: brad left willow. we're changing our name, not sure what to yet (suggestions?). we're only keeping painted black and juxtaposition, all other songs will never be played again.
NEWS: i've been working two jobs and it kind of sucks. KIND OF IS A MASSIVE UNDERSTATEMENT. i worked both jobs, three days in a row this week and i'm exhausted, more mentally than physically (because of having to have so much patience when i'm not the most patient guy). i bought a bike, i'm excited. i bought the PANIC! AT THE DISCO cd, and i like it a lot. i'm almost done reading "survivor" by chuck palahniuk, and it's a great book. i bought 3 new books (buy two get one free = awesome), they are: the prince/the art of war, crime and punishment, and a compilation of plato's writings.
OTHER NEWS: i'm watching star trek 2.0 right now, and i've decided you have to be an extreme geek to do the little IM thingy on the bottom.
RANDOMNESS: i started a rap band, it's fun. kyle and i pissed off some hardcore kids at our first show, which just made it more fun.
AND!: We (the band that needs a new name, and Muskegon Mafia 'rap band') will most likely be recording some stuff in the 3358 "poop room" sometime soon, so watch for that, or, listen, rather. Actually, the band that needs a new name will be recording for sure.
FINALLY: i realize this post is a waste of my time as no one will comment or probably even read it because it's too long, and no one probably cares, but, if you read it: sweet, if you comment: sweet, if not: whatev.
less than three,
Jake

I HAVE THE GREATEST MINI-VAN EVER!
and here's why:
it's freakin awesome and great on gas.
it came with a bunch of cassette tapes of sweet bands
kyle opened the drawer that's under the passenger seat and there were tokens and passes for craig's cruisers. tons of them. so, needless to say, me, kyle, bryan (sp?), and steve decided to go to craig's cruisers instead of a movie. it was a great time and there was a really really gorgeous girl that worked there.
so, all in all, great day and weekend.

the receiving end of sirens is a really good band. i'm totally in love with their cd "between the heart and the synapse". i especially love their first single off of it "planning a prison break". i seriously recommend anyone to listen to it, it really is amazing. they're like post-hardcore meets pop-punk meets techno experimental awesomeness.
in other news: i don't know why, but i kind of want to start a side-project. however, i have no one else that would really want to do this. i was thinking like have nick record a solo cd and me plays drums for him and we'd find a bassist or whoever else we needed, but i'm also thinking a jazzish type band. but, then again, i'm also thinking i want to start a really experimental band, like a modern-day pink floydish band.
yeah i know, i have a lot of ideas.

alright, very good weekend.
friday---finished up recording, burnt as many copies of the EP as i could. practiced for a couple hours. went to the vous and hung out with steve, bryan, ashley, marshal, andrew, jimmy, and bron.
saturday---job interview at lowe's, i thought it went well, but i don't think i'll take the job as it is seasonal. went and re-applied at starbucks. played the show at the grand haven vfw, sold a couple cds, hung out with jmo for the first time since november. went to jmo's dad's and had hotdogs and s'mores.
sunday---easter. i got a pair of dark side of the moon swimtrunks and the cd "between the heart and the synapse" by the receiving end of sirens. great cd. went to church, then to both grandmas' houses for dinners.
Yup, Jake from Willow
ps---if you did not get a copy of the EP, comment and i can try to get you a copy in the next couple of weeks. it costs $3.
